Murphy and Rossi are waiting, for as long as it takes, for a suspect to come home. And in this quiet moment, the conversation turns to past cases they can never forget …
This is a very short novella featuring the main characters of Luca Veste's full length novels, DI David Murphy and DS Laura Rossi.
While observing a suspect's house in a dark, deserted street, in their patrol car, DI Murphy recounts THE one case that as a cop will never leave him. It happened when he was still in uniform. Dispatched to a caller's address, young DI Murphy had stumbled upon a gruesome scene of utter horror and devastation.
Brilliantly written, this taut novella was a great opportunity for me to 'sample' this author's writing and to get to know his main characters. It was however way TOO short and ended at 42% of the file. That's because this story is followed by a chapter from the author's newest book to be released later on this year. On the plus side, this novella is currently FREE on Amazon. I've now decided to bump up Luca Veste's other books in my TBR pile.
Luca Veste is a writer of Italian and Liverpudlian heritage, married with two young daughters, and one of nine children. He studied psychology and criminology at university in Liverpool. He is the author of the Murphy and Rossi series, which includes DEAD GONE, THE DYING PLACE, and BLOODSTREAM.
Part psychological thriller, part police procedural, his books follow the detective pairing of DI David Murphy and DS Laura Rossi. The novels are set in Liverpool, bringing the city to life in a dark and terrifying manner...with just a splash of Scouse humour.
