Paris, France - the city of love.
French banker Liliane Genet has been looking for a man just like him for a long time. Smart, witty, well-built and successful, her new lover looks too good to be true. Maybe because he actually is...
When detective John Montclair is called to investigate on her death, he quickly realizes that the killer knows what he's doing. He's a maniac but he's a pro. The victim was brutally murdered in the middle of sexual games yet the crime scene is perfectly clean. How did he manage to do that?
Because there is one thing for sure: Liliane Genet was not the first one to fall for the dangerous sexual predator. And she won't be the last...
The Dark Stallion is on the loose in Paris. He targets wealthy, successful, powerful women who are desperate for some excitement in their lives. His profession, charm and intelligence give him easy access to the beds of these women.
When the first victim is discovered dead in her bed it is immediately obvious that she has been killed in the middle of some sexual game. Detective John Montclaire and his partner Sovann Yim are put in charge of solving the case. The killer is very meticulous and leaves no traces or clues on the crime scene.
When another victim is discovered after just a few days, Montclaire realises that he's on a race against time. The second victim's murder is much more brutal than the first. The killer is obviously enjoying it and getting more confident.
Will Montclaire be able to find the link between the victims that will point the investigation in the right direction? Will he make it on time to track down and stop the Dark Stallion before other innocent victims are claimed?
This was quite an easy, fast read that held my attention. Maybe the story was closed somewhat abruptly and it's obvious that it continues in the second book as there are some questions left unanswered at the end. There were also the usual odd typos but on the whole it was quite an enjoyable read.
