When Hero's wife is involved in a car accident with her best friend in which the driver left the scene, he decides to investigate the case. Hero soon discovers that Nelda has had to contend with a string of strange things happening to her since she broke off her engagement to Paul Fox.
Can Hero pin any of the strange events on Paul before he carries out his final deadly act?
Alongside her famous Justice series, brilliant author Mel Comley is slowly building up the DI Hero Nelson series. The books in this series are always full of suspense, with great plots and characters and realistic dialogue. Deadly Act is a novella and the latest instalment.
Life couldn't be better for Nelda. She's young, beautiful and she's going out with the man of her dreams - Paul Fox, who's just went down on one knee and proposed to her. She's over the moon. It's a fairy tale.
But all happiness comes crashing down on her one evening after a disturbing experience. Broken-hearted she decides to call off her engagement with Paul. During this traumatic period, she's comforted by her best friend Fay, DI Hero Nelson's wife.
When strange things start to happen in Nelda's life, including serious accidents, Fay is concerned and prompts her husband to have a look. Is Paul Fox involved in all this or someone else? Isn't her neighbour a tad too friendly? Will Nelda be able to leave the past behind and start afresh?
Being a short book, I devoured it all down in one sitting as I wanted to see if by the end, Nelda will get out unscathed from her terrifying situation. Deadly Act is a taut, edge-of-your-seat thriller and another great addition to the series.
